About Rogue Chef

Is Rogue Chef a real chef's brand?

Yes. Rogue Chef is founded by Chef Anthony (Ant) Healy, whose career spans professional kitchens, private estates, remote island resorts and royal households. Rogue Chef is his off-grid alter-ego — the same standards he holds in a five-star kitchen, built into gear tough enough for dust, heat, salt, mud, beach, backroads and bush. Read the full story on our About page.

Where are Rogue Chef knives made?

Our knives are designed in Australia and made in Seki, Japan — a city with centuries of knife-making heritage. It's the same region many of the world's top kitchen and culinary knives come from.

What does "Fork the Rules" actually mean?

It's our philosophy, not just a tagline. Restaurant-quality food doesn't need a restaurant kitchen — it just needs the right gear and someone willing to break from the usual camping-food playbook. That's what Rogue Chef is built for.

Knives: materials & craftsmanship

What steel are Rogue Chef knives made from?

Our knives use AUS-8 Japanese steel with a satin blade finish — a hard-wearing stainless steel that holds an edge well and resists corrosion, which matters when you're cooking somewhere dustier and saltier than a kitchen bench.

What's the difference between the Gyuto, Santoku and Petty knives?

The Gyuto (210mm) is the all-rounder — built for serious cooks who want one knife that does it all, anywhere. The Santoku (170mm) is your easy, everyday knife — sharp, lightweight, built for quick dinners through to full spreads. The Petty (155mm) is the small-jobs knife — slicing fruit, trimming meat, anything that doesn't need the bigger blades.

Are Rogue Chef knives suitable for camping and outdoor use?

Yes — that's exactly what they're built for. Every knife is tested in harsh Australian conditions: dust, heat, salt, mud, beach, backroads and bush. They're kitchen knives in spirit and performance, just built to handle a camp table as well as a chef's bench.

Knife care & maintenance

How do I care for my Rogue Chef knife?

Hand wash only, and dry it immediately after use. Don't leave it soaking or sitting wet, and don't put it in the dishwasher. Store it safely in a blade protector, knife roll, block or a dedicated drawer insert between uses — never loose in a drawer or bag.

Can I put my Rogue Chef knife in the dishwasher?

No — hand wash only. Dishwasher detergent and heat will dull the edge and can damage the blade finish over time, and it's not covered under warranty if it does.

How do I sharpen my knife?

We make a Rogue Chef Knife Sharpener designed for stainless steel blades and everyday use — it's what we recommend for keeping your Rogue Chef knife performing the way it should.

How do I protect my knife when it's not in use or when I'm travelling?

Use a Blade Protector (we make one in small and large) to keep your blade — and everything around it — safe in storage, transport or on the move. It's the easiest way to carry a knife safely in a camp box, bag or drawer.

Ordering, shipping & delivery

Where do you ship?

We ship to Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

How much does shipping cost?

Within Australia: Standard shipping is $10–$15, Express is $25, and shipping is free on all orders over $200 AUD. To New Zealand: a flat $39.95 AUD. To the United States: from $34 AUD (parcels up to 0.5kg), $62 AUD (0.5–2kg) or $95 AUD (2–4kg), depending on order weight. The free-shipping-over-$200 offer currently applies to Australian orders only. All orders are dispatched from Australia.

How long will my order take?

Within Australia, orders are processed within 1–2 business days (next business day if placed on a weekend or public holiday), then Standard shipping takes 2–7 business days and Express takes 1–3 business days after dispatch. New Zealand and United States orders take longer due to international transit and customs processing — contact us if you need a specific estimate for your order.

Do I need to be home to sign for my delivery?

All knife orders are shipped with signature on delivery, to make sure they arrive safely and securely.

Returns, refunds & warranty

What's your returns policy?

If you change your mind, contact us within 14 days of receiving your order — items must be unused, in original condition and original packaging, and return postage is the customer's responsibility. Once a product has been used, we don't offer change-of-mind refunds. Full details are in our Return and Refund Policy.

What if my order arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect?

Contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number, photos of the item and packaging, and a brief description of the issue. If it's confirmed faulty, damaged or incorrect, we'll arrange a replacement, refund or store credit.

Are knives returnable?

For safety and hygiene reasons, knives must be returned unused and in original condition unless the item is faulty. Normal wear and tear, misuse, incorrect storage, dishwasher damage or rust from improper care aren't considered faults — see our care instructions above.

Is there an age restriction on buying knives?

Yes — by purchasing a knife from Rogue Chef, you confirm you're 18 or older and buying it for lawful culinary use only.

Do you offer a warranty?

We stand by the quality of everything we make. If you receive a faulty item, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we'll assess and resolve it in line with Australian Consumer Law, which isn't limited by anything in our store policies.

Gifting & bundles
